It were Gerard Loyson from Koolskamp (Ardooie) and his wife Jacqueline who opened the doors of their Flandes in Calpe on December 15th 1982. First as a typical Flemish bakery and then expanded in 1990 with a cosy cafeteria, brasserie, tea-room, which youngest daughter Carline has put her heart and soul into since June 1997.
Over the years, Flandes has become a reference in Calpe and the surrounding area. Belgian, Spanish, English and many other customers place their trust in “the Belgian Baker” by returning regularly. Besides delicious home-baked sandwiches, with truly the best coffee in the region, you can find pastries, snacks, freshly baked pancakes, Brussels waffles, ice cream and many other goodies.
